Savory Meets Crispy: Vietnamese Pizza- Bánh Tráng Nướng

Vietnamese Pizza, also known as bánh tráng nướng, is a popular street food sensation. It's like a quesadilla and a pizza rolled into one, offering crispy edges, a satisfying chew from the rice paper, and a burst of umami flavor.

This crispy rice paper base is topped with a mix of savory ingredients: eggs, scallions, sriracha, and mayo. My recipe uses Roland's Hot Green Chili Crunch- it’s a spicy and premium Asian relish made with green chili peppers and dried stem lettuce. I love it because it adds a vibrant crunch to my eggs, which adds unique zesty heat and color to this dish. This dish truly combines the best of Vietnamese and Western flavors- a creation full of flavor, texture, and color!

Get creative with your toppings! Add anything you like, or try traditional options like pork floss, quail eggs, or chopped shrimp.

Ingredients:

  • 1 rice paper round

  • Roland's hot green chili crunch

  • 1 egg

  • Scallions, chopped

  • Black pepper, to taste

  • Sriracha sauce

  • Kewpie mayo

Instructions:

  1. Place a rice paper round in a pan over low heat.

  2. Add a dollop of Roland's hot green chili crunch onto the rice paper.

  3. Crack an egg on top of the chili crunch and spread it out evenly.

  4. Sprinkle chopped scallions and black pepper over the egg.

  5. Drizzle with sriracha sauce and kewpie mayo according to your taste preferences.

  6. Optionally, fold the rice paper in half to enclose all the ingredients.

  7. Cook until the rice paper is crisped on both sides, ensuring the egg is fully cooked.

  8. Once crispy, remove from the pan and serve hot.
