Air Fried Oysters With An Asian Ginger-Scallion Soy Marinade

Grilled or baked oysters are a culinary delight that takes the briny goodness of fresh oysters to new heights. Elevate your seafood experience with my Asian-inspired grilled oysters, infused with the bold flavors of soy and ginger.

You can either grill these oysters or cook them in the air fryer. This recipe combines the natural umami of oysters with the savory depth of soy sauce and the subtle heat of ginger, creating a dish that's both sophisticated and satisfying.

Ingredients:

Fresh oysters in the shell
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 green onions, finely chopped
Lemon wedges for serving

PREPARATION

Pre-heat your air fryer to 400F degrees.

Prepare the Oysters: Rinse oyster shells under cold running water to ensure they are clean.

Place the oysters on a baking tray arranging them securely on a tray (the deep cup side of the shell should be on the bottom touching the tray, flat side up). Use a ridged tray or place salt on the tray to keep the oysters from tipping over. Air fry for about 5 minutes or until oysters start to pop open and its liquid starts bubbling out of the shell.

Remove oysters and carefully shuck the oysters (this should be relatively easy since the shell has loosened open some, start by piercing the hinge and working your way around the shell to detach top shell from bottom shell), discarding the top shell, and arrange the oysters on a tray.

Create the Marinade: In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, sesame oil, minced ginger, minced garlic, and chopped green onions. This aromatic marinade will infuse the oysters with a harmonious blend of Asian flavors.

Marinate the Oysters: Spoon a little of the marinade over each oyster, being careful not to overfill the oysters and ensuring they are well-coated. Allow the oysters to marinate for at least 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Garnish and Serve: Carefully remove the grilled oysters from the grill and transfer them to a salt lined serving platter (about 1/2” deep of salt). Garnish with fresh cilantro and/or scallions and serve with lemon wedges on the side.

The result is a symphony of flavors—briny oysters complemented by the savory richness of soy sauce, the warmth of ginger, and the nuttiness of sesame oil. This Asian-inspired grilled oyster recipe is a delightful journey for your taste buds, perfect for a special occasion or any time you want to savor the exquisite taste of grilled seafood
with an Eastern twist.

Enjoy!
